President’s Column

It’s almost here again! Summer! Get ready for those hot, sweltering months. It’s time to bring out the bathing suits and swimming trunks, along with the swimming pool/beach inflatable toys.

The summer months are not solely all about fun. The RESBC Board has a number of business projects to attend to, along with decisions to be made. The Bylaws for RESBC have, for quite some time, been in need of a tune-up; not a complete overhaul, but necessary revisions are in the works. After numerous drafts and reviews, it appears that the Executive Board is getting close to concluding these revisions and presenting them to the General Membership for ratification. The final draft of our Bylaws will be brought to you for your approval, prior to submitting a finalized document to the State. This will be done at the June/Mid-Year Luncheon being held on Monday, June 26, 2017. All the more reason to attend the luncheon! Your vote of approval of the Bylaws is important. Your attendance at the luncheon will also provide you the opportunity to give Immediate Past President Wes McDaniel a well-deserved pat on the back! It is Wes who has spearheaded the effort to bring the RESBC Bylaws up to date!

In this current edition of the Prime Time, you will find a reservation form for the June/Mid- Year Luncheon. Please plan on attending! Return your completed reservation form, along with your payment, today. You won’t regret it!

The continuing effort to recruit additional members to RESBC is a constant endeavor. With a new Membership Chair on board, we expect to be having several recruitment events during the remainder of the current year and into 2018. I am hoping that many of you will join us for these events.

By the time that you receive this edition of Prime Time, the Board members representing RESBC at the Spring Conference of the California Retired County Employees Association (CRCEA) will have returned from Ventura with news and information from the State level. Much of this information will be provided in the June 2017 edition of the Prime Time.

By the time you read this Prime Time, Easter will have come and gone. I hope you had a good one. Mother’s Day is around the corner. I hope everybody celebrates Mother’s Day in the way you wish. Have a great one!
